The clinic provides an insight into running of a diet clinic, conducting a diet counselling session and first hand exposure for an entrepreneurial set up. Apart from providing counselling for weight loss and weight management, diets are also prepared for clinical conditions and healthy eating patterns for all age groups. It also trains the students in the use of Diet Cal, a software for dietary calculations and nutritive content of foods.

A healthy body leads to a healthy mind. Besides good nutrition, a healthy lifestyle is a must to be able to achieve good health. As India is fast becoming the diabetic capital of the world, it is important to prevent severe metabolic disorders through lifestyle and dietary management.

A balanced diet is important because your organs and tissues need proper nutrition to work effectively. Without good nutrition, your body is more prone to disease, infection, fatigue and performance.

Over the past few decades, there has been a paradigm shift in eating habits. With the rise in food processing and technology, the transition from eating wholesome, traditional foods to refined and processed ones has taken place. As a result our basic diets are losing the essence of being nutritionally adequate.

Under the patronage of the Principal, Dr.Sudha Katyal, the department of Foods and Nutrition, Government Home Science College has initiated a Diet Clinic, as a part of its outreach program and extension activity. It aims to provide free nutritional counselling and healthy diet patterns to individuals for all age groups and for those suffering from various metabolic disorders such as obesity, heart problems, diabetes, hypertension etc.
